The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
New Relic was selected as a 2024 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of diverse talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Standout Candidate Experience
The Early Careers team at New Relic is committed to providing a superior experience for students throughout the entire recruitment process. A positive experience for candidates is based on transparency and clear communication between recruiters, candidates and hiring teams. A few ways the team creates a positive candidate experience is through proactively communicating compensation details, sharing an interviewing tips document to aid in candidate preparation, and ensuring the hiring team is aligned with a transparent strategy. In an ongoing effort to elevate the candidate experience, the team conducts a post-recruitment survey, gathering invaluable feedback. By embracing a data-driven methodology, the team refines and enhances the recruitment process. This iterative approach guarantees that every candidate's journey is not only positive but also consistently fine-tuned for excellence.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values for New Relic’s Early Careers team, shaping their vision and mission. They prioritized schools with diverse student populations for the upcoming recruitment year, including building long-term relationships with specific HBCUs and HSIs. By collaborating with the broader talent acquisition team to attend national events, such as Women Impact Tech and AfroTech, to increase the diversity of their networks. Strategic partnerships with New Relic’s Employee Resource Groups further support underrepresented talent recruitment. New Relic is proud to share that of the interns hired, 65% are people of color and 62% are women, reflecting New Relic's commitment to a diverse and inclusive workforce.
Impactful Internship Program
At New Relic, all of our interns are valued like every other Relic at the company. The Early Careers team selects managers that align with the team’s vision of providing impactful and meaningful experiences. Interns have dedicated time to volunteer in line with the company’s vision for social impact. They work on projects with real-world impact. For example, this past summer interns analyzed customer data to produce usage reports, worked on live code to help customers navigate their data, and revamped New Relic’s Allyship workshop for all employees. The mentorship program ensures interns receive guidance and career advice, and have the unique opportunity to participate in fireside chats with the executive team for casual Q&A sessions, fostering a direct connection with leadership.
