The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
Molson Coors Beverage Company was selected as a 2023 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent, their emphasis on diversity & inclusion, and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring
Molson Coors Beverage Company’s internship falls under the scope and management of its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion team. The company’s Early Talent Program was created to increase representation of professionals of color and female employees, by building a diverse pipeline of early talent. Molson Coors Beverage Company invests in its interns' development by providing them with the necessary professional soft skills, leadership training, and career exploration to set them up for long-term success in their careers.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
Molson Coors Beverage Company utilizes platforms such as RippleMatch, Indeed, and LinkedIn to source for early talent. The company also uses its partnerships with diverse professional organizations that focus on candidates embarking on early careers, as well as incorporates a mixture of phone and virtual on-demand interviews to get to know the candidates. Molson Coors also uses creative social media strategies to encourage young talent to apply to its roles. The DEI and Talent Acquisition teams are always on the hunt for additional ways to partner with undergraduate colleges, as well to directly engage with early talent. Despite being a beverage company, most of the company's internships do not require a 21+ age requirement as they look to develop talent and provide internship experiences that will help them decide what their future career paths would be.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
The Early Talent Program has an annual goal of at least 50% of the class being students of color. Its intern conversion goal – converted to either full-time or returning interns for underclassmen – is also set to at least 50% for students of color. Molson Coors Beverage Company also aims to ensure that at least 50% of interns are women, with a focus on its Brewery Operations and Supply Chain roles, which historically have less female representation.
Impactful Internship Program
The Early Talent Program provides students with valuable, real-world experiences, and meaningful summer projects that impact the overall business and bottom-line goals. In addition to making contributions to the business, ETP interns also participate in workshops on topics such as Growth Mindset, Teamwork & Collaboration, Self-Discovery, Gallup StrengthsFinder, and more! The entire intern class also comes together at the historic Milwaukee brewery for the last week of the program for a "hackathon" event called the "MCBC Shark Tank." The Shark Tank is an innovation competition that allows interns to collaborate on an innovative idea, and the week of the hackathon includes workshops in Ideation, Production, Pitching, and Presentation skills, as well as meetings with their assigned mentors. On the final day, interns pitch their ideas to the C-suite leadership team — including the CEO — and are judged on creativity, feasibility, and presentation.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
Molson Coors Beverage Company has an award-winning (Brandon Hall Awards) onboarding program that immerses entry-level and new employees into the business by kicking off their first week at the company in the historic Miller Brewery. Throughout the week, they are introduced to the Molson Coors business units with dynamic presentations from leaders across the business. Onboarding classes also get the opportunity to visit and tour the plant of one of the company's main distributors. During this week, entry-level and new employees are also introduced to Emergenetics — a test that provides insight into the employees' strengths, behaviors, and work preferences.
