That’s why the work of MKS Instruments’ campus programs team is so important to the overall company strategy by bringing in new ideas for innovation from universities across the country.

Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment

The campus programs team at MKS Instruments is always challenging its approach to sourcing and recruiting the next generation of talent. As it has adopted a hybrid approach to recruitment, the team crafted a range of both virtual events for students across the country, as well as more targeted events with select universities, ranging from information sessions to industry career panel discussions. Within its target universities, the team works with HBCUs and HSIs to ensure a diverse pool of candidates are represented throughout the recruiting process. Also from a diversity recruitment perspective, the campus programs team recruits at national conferences regionally through SWE and NSBE. MKS Instruments prioritizes the candidate experience by always being around to answer questions, coaching for interviews, and providing them tips to land a role at MKS Instruments.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

MKS Instruments celebrates diversity at the early-career level as it truly moves the needle on diversity across the organization. The campus programs team at MKS Instruments is passionate about connecting with a diverse group of students across the country regardless of school/ university specifics. To create a diverse candidate pool, the team has established relationships with HBCUs and HSIs, and focused on finding diverse talent in its traditional schools by partnering with diverse student organizations such as NSBE, SWE, and Women in Optics. In addition to school partnerships, the MKS Campus Programs team has started to partner with national organizations such as NSBE and SWE, but at a regional level of focus. In addition to recruitment, MKS Instruments ensures diversity, equity, and inclusion is baked into its campus programs by hosting DE&I events and DE&I specific trainings for all interns and new grads to attend.

Impactful Internship Program

At MKS Instruments, interns are provided real-world experience related to their field of study. Interns provide feedback that they do not feel like an intern within the company, but a full-time employee as they are treated with respect and encouragement to provide innovative solutions to today’s problems. Internship opportunities at MKS Instruments can be remote, or hybrid to give interns the flexibility they are seeking. Interns at MKS Instruments have the ability to meet with executives such as the CEO, John Lee, as well as work on other projects with other global interns through a cross-collaborative global intern project.
