Melanie Marshall - Nominee for Rising Star Award - 2023 Campus Recruiting Choice Awards

Melanie (she/her) is the first University Recruiting Program Manager at Apollo GraphQL. Taking over university hiring for 2022, Melanie expanded the program to include marketing, sales, and design interns alongside the engineering interns and new grads that Apollo has historically hired. Melanie also works as a sourcer, helping hire the best talent in the industry across every function at Apollo over the last two and a half years. Apollo is Melanie's first foray into recruiting. She is a theatre artist who uses her skills as an actor, director, and writer every day in talent acquisition. She spent 5 years as a casting director, which is basically just recruiting for actors. She is passionate about DEI and creating real human connections in the recruiting process.

Career Highlight

"Our 2022 class of interns represented our largest, most diverse class ever! Matching our company's overall hiring strategy, we had a goal of hiring at least 50% of our interns from historically underrepresented groups, including achieving gender parity in our engineering internships. We were able to surpass our goals by leaning into a virtual recruiting process so we could expand the list of schools and clubs source from and we build relationships with, including HBCUs and HSIs. I look forward to continuing to grow these relationships in the years to come."
