Maria Keen is a Talent Acquisition Partner at American Express in the Campus Recruitment space. Maria is responsible for recruiting top undergraduate & graduate talent for Amex’s award-winning Summer Internship Program (SIP). The SIP is one of the company’s top recruitment pipelines, & is a leader in early talent development. Maria has been at American Express since October of 2021, & previously served in various talent acquisition roles across multiple industries upon finishing her Master’s degree program at Seton Hall University in 2013. Maria leads both internal & external recruitment & SIP cohort events, helps develop & enact recruitment strategy, & maintains partnerships with her Business Unit & college/university designations. Maria is passionate about the candidate experience, leading a first-class recruitment experience that brings the candidate along throughout the journey from application to offer.

"As a Campus Recruiter, we are constantly engaging with colleges and universities recruiting top talent. I saw a need for a better and more equitable reach, and developed new event marketing strategies via our existing technologies and databases. This not only opened up our candidate pool to a larger audience, but also a more diverse one. I then spearheaded a virtual event structure to engage this audience, and it has since been picked up by many of the Business Units we work with. We have seen a large year-over-year applicant pool, and better pre-application engagement from the extremely large and talented candidate pool."
