Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting
The ManTech EXCELerate Team has successfully led the enterprise into unchartered territories of virtual sourcing and recruiting early career talent through social media. Virtual presence is critical to campus recruiting and the team has innovated to build that presence through new (to ManTech) out-of-the-box methods. A few strategies include monthly student story highlights, hosting social media challenges and highlighting winners, and posting mini-video reels that all highlight the culture, learning opportunities, and experience students have at ManTech.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
The ManTech College Recruiting Team (est. Nov 2020) in one year has brought their A-game to execute their entire program. They implement SOPs for hiring teams to prioritize the candidate experience. Key aspects include building supportive relationships with students (setting individual time for students and having real conversations about offers) and a talent community experience. The team partners with staff to design custom hiring best practices (interview assessments, efficient interview cadences, and resources to help enhance the interviewer process). The team always improves upon current practices through constructive 360 degree feedback and benchmarking with industry colleagues.
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
The EXCELerate Team is a key part of ManTech’s I&D transformation and exposing the company to new channels of top talent that align with early career pipeline initiatives. Student recruitment and programming is very new to ManTech, and in one year the team has brought ManTech to focus on building active relationships with HBCUs and HSIs, sponsor STEM diversity graduate programs, and establish strategy for partnerships with national diverse organizations and groups.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
ManTech’s intern program is perfectly represented in the company’s tagline– “Securing the Future”. Interns work on REAL work that impact the government’s national security and defense. They see the impact they have (from the US military to the intel community to in space) and are empowered to take ownership and pride in what they do. “Securing the Future” also means that ManTech interns are invaluable assets. Interns push their own learning /development through the ManTech University and other educational paths offered. The summer programs highlight networking and professional development by allowing interns to network with leadership and create cohorts that solidify their ManTech community.
Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent
ManTech is the perfect place for new graduates to embark on their professional journeys. New graduates / entry-level employees are afforded opportunities to carve out their career paths. Examples include on-the-job training, certified training programs and award-wining workshops, education reimbursement benefits, exposure to work opportunities across the enterprise with an internal mobility program to help identify aligned career opportunities and interests. Furthermore, they have opportunities to network with leadership and expand external networks at conferences, seminars, workshops, etc.
