Through Lumen’s myriad approach of virtual, hybrid, and in-person events, Lumen works to ensure they are connecting nationwide with top talent from all different demographics. Reaching the next generation means “meeting them where they are at” and that includes a digital approach to recruitment. Creating and maintaining a strong online presence and employer brand on social media platforms, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, X, and Facebook, where Lumen showcases their culture, values, and opportunities for early career talent, allows the team to do that. Lumen’s strategies have ensured that it is focused on reaching and engaging diverse talent from a variety of colleges and universities.

Lumen’s commitment to attracting, developing, and retaining diverse talent from various backgrounds, identities, and abilities helps to ensure the goal of connecting people, data and apps - quickly, securely and effortlessly. To recruit a diverse slate of candidates, the team has forged new relationships with HBCUs, HSIs, and public universities, as well as built out a robust set of diversity-focused partnerships with national and regional organizations to host events, workshops, and professional growth seminars. Additionally, with 12 Employee Resource Groups, Lumen's diverse employees find community and a sense of belonging to ensure all Lumen humans have a safe place to thrive and build a successful career with mentorship, development, and achievement.
Impactful Internship Program
The Lumen internship program builds a foundation for early career talent to launch a successful career. From day one, Lumen interns participate in and lead meaningful and impactful work. In addition to the powerful, project-based work they are completing, Lumen interns get to participate in workshops designed to grow their personal and professional experience. From LinkedIn and branding seminars to training on finances and mental health, the program creates a well-rounded experience to ensure a successful transition from degree to career. Lumen creates opportunities to build networks within our intern program. Through Coffee Chats with the CEO, Mentor Mondays with leaders and former interns, and other events, interns gain exposure into the culture of Lumen- allowing them to seamlessly intertwine themselves into the company.
