The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
LMI was selected as a 2023 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent, their emphasis on diversity & inclusion, and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring
LMI’s product is its people. LMI strives to provide solutions to the government's toughest challenges. With technologies and capabilities expanding at every corner, the company values and cherishes fresh perspectives to remain an inclusive, agile, and fun work environment. This starts with its early career talent that is the foundation of its ecosystem. LMI has an Early Career Professionals affinity group where individuals can be their true selves and be a part of a group with like-minded individuals. LMI is proud to continue this culture of inclusivity at all levels, placing value on its early career talent.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
The university recruiting team at LMI is dedicated to providing a seamless process for all applicants and students, starting from the recruitment and outreach process. In a hybrid environment, the team has gone in person and virtual to colleges & universities, including HBCUs and Minority Serving Institutions. This includes partnerships such as hosting case competitions onsite at LMI, as well as meet & greets with undergrad and alumni networks. This includes providing real success stories with leaders and employees that have come to LMI through student programs from these schools.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
LMI values diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility at all levels. This is a framework of the organization with a dedicated DEIA department, as well as affinity groups aligned to many key areas such as its minorities & ethnicities, women forum, veterans, Asian inclusion network, and affinity group geared towards individuals with disabilities. Additionally, LMI’s Early Career Professionals affinity group was key to continue LMI’s diversity outreach. The team has been able to foster decade-long partnerships with HBCUs and MSIs not only by attending events and recruiting students, but partnering with programs to include government programs and efforts.
Impactful Internship Program
In LMI’s hybrid setting, its intern program is able to accommodate students located anywhere in the country. The company’s award-winning program is client-facing and filled with professional development and networking opportunities throughout the summer to provide a real experience of life at LMI. Interns get a chance to receive coaching with trained experts, 1-on1 time with senior leaders, and roundtables/brown bags with leaders who were former interns. Other events include networking at HQ, a Nationals baseball game, escape room, and strengths finders event.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
LMI provides and values the onboarding and retention experience for employees at all levels. Employees go through rigorous training that includes case studies for "the LMI way", as well as opportunities to jump right into activities with affinity groups (even interns can participate). Additionally, with its hybrid work setting, LMI is able to tap all employees with in-office opportunities to network with colleagues throughout the year. Finally, one special program is LMI's Mentor Connect program that gives early career professionals the opportunity to be matched with a more experienced mentor across the organization in the areas that they have common interest. LMI also offers a robust tuition reimbursement package ($15k/year) for continuous learning and development.
