The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
Legrand was selected as a 2024 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of diverse talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Innovative Use of Technology
Legrand has incorporated technology into all stages of the employee life cycle. Using systems like RippleMatch, Legrand creates pre-screen questionnaires that give candidates more insight into the role, and the hiring manager more insight into the candidates. Legrand piloted Calendly this year and saw improved candidate flow rate from intro to first interview by giving candidates the ability to schedule directly with the hiring manager. Virtual interviews remove geographic barriers, allowing Legrand to reach more candidates than on-site only would permit. During the program, virtual meetings create more opportunities for program participants to keep in touch with their cohort, attend professional development sessions, and engage with leaders from across the organization and the world.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Diversity, equity and inclusion are at the heart of Legrand's values and growth strategy and play an important part the company’s success. Legrand has implemented several policies as well as adding a Chief Diversity Officer to its executive team. The early-career program managers ensure that candidates meet with a diverse slate of interviewers. Additionally, all candidates can be confident that their interviewers have all completed Inclusive Leadership training. Once on board, all new hires receive information and invitations to join one (or more!) of the company’s multiple Employee Resource Groups.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
Legrand’s early career rotation programs offer a high engagement and high exposure experience. Employment begins with a one-week all-program onboarding at Legrand’s US headquarters, which includes sessions with senior leaders and a community service event. During each rotation, participants receive a 90-day onboarding plan and a formal mentor assignment. Throughout the duration of the program, Legrand offers participants professional development training, certification programs, bi-annual onsite program events, and travel with their direct teams. Additionally, Legrand leadership reviews program alumni each year to discuss career aspirations and future opportunities.
