Career Highlight

When Kelly Barrena first joined KnowBe4, she noticed the lack of opportunities for early-career talent. Within her first 90 days, she managed to get senior leadership buy-in and she set out to build KnowBe4’s internship program, which has since grown from 16 to 38 interns. The program was so successful that it has now expanded internationally. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, she was tasked with quickly pivoting the entire internship program to be virtual, including all social events and professional development opportunities. In order to increase diversity in the cybersecurity field, Kelly created KnowBe4’s Scholarship program which offers $10,000 scholarships for Women, Black Americans, and U.S. Military, Veterans and Spouses in Cybersecurity. In an effort to build a talent pipeline for early-career talent into sales, Kelly also built and launched KnowBe4’s Sales Career Accelerator program, a 6-month virtual training and professional development program for college Juniors and Seniors who are interested in pursuing a career in sales. This program allows them to gain knowledge, participate in networking opportunities and get hands-on sales practice under the guidance of KnowBe4's top sales reps and executives.
