Katherine Tear - Nominee for Exceptional Leader Award

Katherine Tear is a University Relations Manager at Lucid Motors. In her role at Lucid Motors, Katherine is responsible for establishing early career opportunities in technology and manufacturing paths. Prior to her role at Lucid Motors, Katherine ran a community-based internship program for inner-city high school students in Detroit and managed a sponsorship program with internship placement of FIRST Robotics students at DTE Energy. Katherine’s priority is creating opportunities to attract and retain underrepresented individuals in STEM, manufacturing, and electric vehicle fields to create a sustainable community and environment.

Career Highlight

The pandemic hit when Katherine’s team was recruiting for a community-service internship program. The team came together to provide the youth a transformational virtual work experience where they identified needs and planned community-service activities for their school and neighborhood. The students learned essential work skills that will improve their future career chances. Katherine was proud to lead a team of program mentors who guided 14-17-year-old inner-city youth to realize their small actions can make a big impact on their community while keeping everyone safe during a pandemic.
