Katelyn Johnson - Nominee for Talent Innovator Award - 2023 Campus Recruiting Choice Awards

Katelyn is passionate about closing the gaps between academia and the workforce. She is the University Relations Coordinator at Helix Electric, a leading electrical subcontractor in the United States. In her role at Helix, Katelyn is responsible for the recruitment and retention of student talent, as well as the intern and cooperative education programs. She brings a unique perspective with a background in higher education non-profit work and a Master of Arts in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education, which shapes and informs how she navigates her work with students.

"I believe that internship and co-op experiences aren’t just about learning industry knowledge. It is also about growing personally and building the 'you' that you want to see tomorrow. To help develop our intern and co-op students in this way, mentorship is a huge part of our experience. We intentionally weave and incorporate mentorship between our intern and co-op students and their peers, project teams, the University Relations team, and senior leadership. Past intern and co-op students have said this part of our internship program aids in them feeling fully supported in their learning and as an equal in their day-to-day work."
