The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
Jones Lang Lasalle (JLL) was selected as a 2024 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of diverse talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Standout Candidate Experience
JLL’s Early Career team organized two virtual Global Emerging Talent Conferences to network with recruiters, business professionals, and intern alumni through panel discussions, breakout rooms, and information sessions. This platform provided candidates with insights into JLL's people, culture, and values, helping them make informed career decisions. JLL also introduced the 'Early Career Recruiting Toolkit' as a comprehensive guide, offering insider tips for each stage of the application process. As a result, video interview completion rates rose from ~50% to over 80%, ensuring the selection of top-notch candidates for hiring managers. With over 35,000 candidates applying for 300 internship positions nationwide, these initiatives reflect JLL's commitment to enhancing the candidate experience and attracting exceptional early career professionals.
Innovative Use of Technology
JLL's introduction of 'JLLGPT' in the summer of 2023 has revolutionized the Early Career Team's hiring process. Previously, job descriptions and titles lacked clarity and specificity, resulting in slow and challenging internship placements. This was a barrier to DEI and candidate quality efforts. By leveraging JLLGPT, the team successfully updated the job description template to incorporate essential information about JLL, internship program details, and specific business line information. This optimization of the overview and job specifics sections has significantly enhanced clarity for potential candidates. As a result, common questions have reduced, and the time to receive manager feedback on job descriptions has been halved. This increased efficiency enables faster posting of positions while enhancing the candidate experience.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
JLL's internship program provided an impactful experience for early career talent by prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), mental health, and personal and professional development. The virtual program offered weekly professional development sessions, covering crucial skills like personal finance and time management. Interns were encouraged to engage with JLL's Business Resource Groups and DEI initiatives, participating in local networking events. Over 80 intern managers completed Mental Health First Aid certification training to create a supportive environment for mental health. Additionally, more than 250 experienced employees served as Early Career mentors, providing ongoing guidance. The Intern Ambassador Committee empowered interns to develop leadership skills through volunteer events and intern newsletters to showcase achievements. This comprehensive approach ensured a meaningful internship experience at JLL.
