Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring
JK Moving believes that anyone can have a fantastic and fulfilling career in the moving industry. The company was started by founder Chuck Kuhn when he was just 16 years old and working out of his parent's basement, and has grown to a multi-million dollar company. “Commit to growth” is one of JK Moving’s core values, and allows any young man or woman to join JK and thrive in any direction they would like.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
The school programs team at JK Moving takes on a wide variety of strategies to find the best emerging talent for the company. While the backbone of the recruiting strategy is still in-person visits at fairs and schools, there is a large push to utilize technology to aid in the recruitment efforts of the next generation. JK Moving has been to educational programs all across the DC Metropolitan area to find talent and recruit at all levels of the organization, including crew, truck drivers, and administrative positions.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Diversity and inclusion is important at JK Moving. Our school program recruiting efforts include seeking talent from three local HBCUs (Howard, Bowie State, and Morgan State), and focusing on hiring new female drivers to join our driver fleet. The recruiting team has also made George Mason one of its top priority schools — one of the largest public universities in Virginia — as well as connects with a variety of non-traditional education programs such as English as a Second Language classes and new citizen programs as well.
Impactful Internship Program
At JK Moving, interns are able to really see what a world-class company looks like. They are able to gain first-hand experience with top-of-the-line technologies, and learn about an industry they did not think would be a career option for them. Interns are given a lot of exposure to JK Moving executives during their internship, who can also offer student advice as they come to the starting point of their own careers.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
JK Moving is dedicated to the long-term success of its new hires. The company offers extensive training during the first week on the job with a dedicated training team, and a website called “Commit to Growth” that allows hires to map out their careers going forward and see the possibilities of what they can accomplish in their current position.
