Jessica Coakley - Nominee for Talent Innovator Award

Jessica Coakley has led Itron’s global early career recruitment since September 2019. She is responsible for all early career hiring, including interns, co-ops, apprentices, trainees, and full-time roles. Jessica has more than 15 years of experience working with early career professionals. Prior to joining Itron, she worked in higher education across various career and professional development roles at accredited public and private four-year universities. Jessica is committed to inclusion, and it shows in the relationships and rapport she quickly builds with candidates, teammates and hiring managers.

Career Highlight

"Last year, I spearheaded a shift in our events strategy towards niche events that attract skilled and underrepresented voices in our industry. Data revealed diminishing returns from catch-all hiring events annually. Recognizing the competitive and dynamic landscape for skilled and diverse tech talent, we partnered with customers in 2023 to support initiatives like Black Excellence in Energy, led by Baltimore Gas & Electric and local HBCUs, alongside traditional events and existing partnerships. We also reinvigorated our engagement with some national and global organizations post-pandemic, like Society of Women Engineers and the National Society of Black Engineers. Sensing virtual event fatigue among students and ourselves, we prioritized intentional in-person gatherings to better address talent and business needs in a post-pandemic era."
