Jamilla Smith is a Diversity Recruiter focused solely on HBCU Recruitment on the Bloomberg Campus / Entry-level Talent Acquisition team. At Bloomberg LP, she has managed relationships with target schools in the North East, Southern, and Caribbean Regions. Prior to Bloomberg, she worked as a Recruiting Coordinator and Campus Recruiter in the insurance broking/consulting industry. She is a Sergeant First Class currently in the Army Reserves as an Operations Sergeant for over 18 years. She was deployed to both Iraq & Afghanistan in support of Operation Iraqi & Enduring Freedom, respectively. She is a diversity champion and has a love of music.

Career Highlight

Since Jamilla was promoted into the Diversity Recruiter Role in Aug 2021, she established the Bloomberg Brand at new HBCU target schools while increasing the relationships at already established HBCU target schools. As part of her campus recruitment strategy, she created the first ever Bloomberg HBCU Taskforce; spearheaded the HBCU Summit & first ever HBCU Fall Kick-Off. She incorporated Social Media Takeovers and more engaging professional development events for students. As a result of her more refined HBCU Strategy, applications increased by 40% and hires by 83%; the most the company has seen.
