Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring

At its core, GSK's purpose is to unite science, technology, and talent to get ahead of disease together. The multiple programs for students and recent graduates allow early talent individuals to contribute meaningful and impactful work to better the lives of millions of people worldwide. GSK invests in talent and gives them the opportunities to grow their careers within the company, and gain valuable experience along the way. The future of GSK, including life-changing research, people management, drug development, and business structure relies on the foundation that is built from the ground up. This starts with the talent recruited through the internships, co-ops, and future leaders programs at GSK.

Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment

The Early Talent team at GSK works to ensure a completely inclusive recruitment process, and strives to be as transparent and as helpful along the process for candidates. In addition to attending on-site and virtual career fairs at a variety of partner schools (including HBCUs and HSIs), GSK offers additional virtual sessions for students interested in learning more about GSK's culture by hosting a DE&I Manager to discuss resources and projects GSK is focused on to promote DE&I company-wide. Knowing not all students have access to resources to best prepare for assessment-based application processes, GSK hosted a virtual session to demystify its application process and answer questions. GSK ensures students are informed and comfortable with the process. and remain available for any 1:1 sessions students may request to complete their application.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

GSK's global approach to inclusion and diversity consists of three pillars — its people, its business and its communities. GSK is committed to being more proactive at all levels so that the workforce reflects the communities it works and hires in, and GSK leadership reflects the GSK workforce. The focus lies in the way GSK recruits and develops people, exploring ways to foster a more inclusive environment and making sure policies and processes always promote equal opportunity. Ways GSK is starting this inclusive activity is by advancing partnerships with HBCUs and HSIs, focusing on diversity-themed events at other colleges, introducing GSK culture and DEI initiatives via webinars for students to give them a glimpse of opportunities within the company (including ERGs, volunteer opportunities, diverse reverse mentoring), and offering resources to best equip students from underrepresented backgrounds the best opportunity to succeed in the application process.

Impactful Internship Program

At GSK, interns are involved in impactful work and projects contributing to the overall success of GSK. Interns are given the opportunity to contribute to work groups, where their ideas are just as valued and considered as seasoned colleagues. At the end of the assignment, GSK offers interns the opportunity to present their work to business leaders to showcase their contribution to GSK during their internship. This gives students experience with presentation skills, as well as the confidence to return to school knowing they were part of an inclusive and impactful team. GSK provides all interns the opportunity for development, by organizing lunch and learns with business leaders, skills-building webinar sessions, office hour sessions with the Early Talent team, and team-building sessions. GSK allows interns the introduction to what life is like as a full-time GSK employee, and strives to pipeline talent from the intern program to direct entry roles.
