The overall goal of Genus ABS Global's early-in-career programs is to find diverse, high-quality talent in high-schools, tech schools, and universities across the globe who will partner with the company to learn, experience, and live its culture with the potential to commit their future career with Genus ABS.
Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment
Genus ABS has a divide and conquer approach when it comes to reaching talent across North America. In one month, Genus ABS covers about 30+ career fairs and networking events across North America, and tries to have all offers signed for about 35 (and growing) roles by students' Christmas break. Before starting their summer internship, students create goals and are invited to an in-person orientation at headquarters in Wisconsin, where they return at the end of the summer for a "content contest" to highlight their intern experiences. Outstanding interns are also awarded a scholarship. The company’s in-person events include tours, professional & personal development breakouts, and meetings and dinners with executive leadership. In North America, Genus ABS also offers an Australian Immersion Program as a next step for Repro Interns, and has created a pipeline for Wisconsin High School Apprentice students. In the UK, the company offers a Graduate Program and Insights Program.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
Genus ABS recruits for a wide-range of positions that require a diverse range of students across the country. The company is open to all levels of schooling and working with qualified candidates for work VISAs for an opportunity to pursue their career goals. Genus also offers female employees the opportunity to be a part of its employee resource group, ‘AWAKE’ (Advancing Women's Advocacy Knowledge and Empowerment), with a goal of creating a place for women to network, mentor, and participate in professional development programs to enable them to advance and grow in their careers. Agriculture can sometimes feel like a male-dominated industry, so this is an important group to have immersed within the Genus culture. The ERC has male allies across the country as well.
Impactful Internship Program
Genus ABS’ executive leadership welcomes interns, and the company’s CEO, COO etc. will have 1:1 meetings with students who request it. Plus, managers work closely with their interns on goals, and each student is assigned a mentor. Lastly, a student program manager is available to schedule 1:1 calls for anyone looking for future career coaching or help networking within different departments. Shadowing other departments is also highly encouraged. The company is very supportive of its internship program, which can be seen through the 50% retention rate and growth of the program each year.
