The Pillars of an Award-Winning Program
FTI Consulting was selected as a 2024 Campus Forward Award Winner for their unwavering commitment to seeking out and hiring early career talent and investments in nurturing and retaining the next generation of diverse talent. Please see below for the highlights of their approach to early career recruitment.
Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment
FTI Consulting approaches sourcing and attracting talent through a multi-tiered approach. The firm has relationships with various universities across the United States, including HBCUs and HSIs both on-campus and virtually. FTI Consulting cultivates strong relationships with career services, professors, and student organizations to host events, including resume workshops, interview best practices, and consulting case studies. Additionally, FTI has been recognized as a leader on career platforms, including Handshake, to send targeted campaigns to prospective hires. FTI hosts virtual Segment Spotlight events, designed to provide greater accessibility for candidates to interact directly with consultants and leaders. FTI Consulting strives to provide the best candidate experience through high-touch communication and transparency, by providing a timeline and expectations of potential next steps in the interview process.
Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion
A culture of diversity, inclusion and belonging is fundamental to FTI Consulting’s core values, which is reflected in a multipronged approach on attracting, developing, and retaining talent. FTI Consulting actively recruits a diverse pool of candidates from HBCUs, HSIs, public and private universities and national partnership organizations, including ALPFA and Forte. FTI Consulting is invested in attracting and mentoring underrepresented talent and has created Early Identification programs, including IMPACT and Women In Corporate Finance. These programs give students the opportunity to build their network, gain technical experience early in their academic and professional careers and provide opportunities at FTI Consulting. Once a candidate is hired, FTI Consulting’s Employee Resource Groups and other initiatives across the firm cultivate a culture that is safe and inclusive for all employees.
Impactful Internship Program
At FTI Consulting, the intern experience reflects the work of a full-time employee, providing exposure to clients, culture, mentorship, and team collaboration. Interns attend an in-person orientation, where they have the opportunity to connect with leaders and peers and engage in sessions to learn more about FTI Consulting. Interns stay connected through frequent virtual and in-person opportunities. Interns are assigned a Coach (Mentor) and Orientation Advisor (Peer Mentor) to guide them through day-to-day questions and longer-term goals. The objective is to give interns an opportunity to work as a consultant, learn more about the culture at FTI Consulting, and understand potential career trajectory within the firm. Upon successful completion of the program, interns may receive an offer to return after graduation.
