FTI Consulting is passionate about investing in early career talent — as people are core to its business — and it is committed to mentoring hires into future “Experts with Impact.” Its internship and new hire programs continue to grow year-over-year, with opportunities across a variety of market locations. Interns and new hires are exposed to some of the brightest minds in their respective practices. As a part of a global management consulting firm, while working in smaller teams, they are exposed to a vast number of possibilities. This environment provides interns access to leadership, and an opportunity to work with the best in their industry, without feeling like a number.

Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment

FTI Consulting approaches sourcing and attracting talent through a holistic lens. From a campus relationship standpoint, it has relationships with universities from coast to coast both on campus and virtually, fostering relationships with career services, professors, and student organizations. To further its reach beyond on-site visits, FTI hosts virtual sessions to attract talent across all universities in the nation. FTI leverages career platforms like Handshake to send targeted campaigns to prospective hires. Candidates selected to move forward in the process could attend a virtual interview and many groups at FTI host onsite interviews in one of their FTI offices to provide a face-to-face, final-round interview experience. Candidates meet a range of professionals, from consultants to senior leaders, and are exposed to the authentic culture prior to accepting a role with the organization, providing a best-in-class experience.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

FTI Consulting is committed to embracing, cultivating, and maintaining a culture of diversity, inclusion & belonging, as it is fundamental to FTI’s core values. It is reflected through its commitment to recruiting metrics, diversity programming, Employee Resource Groups, and pro bono work for minorities and the underprivileged. FTI is invested in national partnership organizations like Forte and Out4U to engage with talent at events, and has formed school partnerships on-campus and virtually to attract and mentor underrepresented talent. FTI has also created a diverse professional rotational program to attract, retain, and foster underrepresented talent at the organization. Once a candidate is hired at FTI, they are exposed to a variety of DIB efforts such as introductions to ERGs and dedicated DIB events, like unconscious bias training.

Impactful Internship Program

The intern experience mirrors work of a full-time employee, providing exposure to clients, culture, and strong team collaboration. Interns meet with a Coach (Mentor) and Orientation Advisor (Peer Mentor) regularly. They develop goals and conduct performance reviews, both at the midpoint and the conclusion of the internship, providing tangible ways to track progress. Interns also participate in social events, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DIB) workshops, and professional development opportunities to increase business acumen, networking skills, and engage with FTI’s ERGs. Interns join virtual “coffee chats” to meet interns across FTI and participate in Segment Spotlights, featuring each segment leader in a live Q&A discussion.The goal of the program is to obtain an offer to return to FTI upon graduation. By the end of the summer, interns understand their role as a consultant, FTI culture, and the vast opportunities available to them at FTI Consulting.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

Each fall, all new hire consultants are sent to New Consultant Orientation for a week-long training program. Consultants are exposed to leaders of the business, networking opportunities with peers across market locations, and learning from experts the technical knowledge and skills needed to be successful in a client-serving environment. Upon starting with FTI, consultants are immediately put on client projects and are mentored within small team environments to help them reach the next level. New hires are encouraged to join Employee Resource Groups, attend office and team events, and receive coaching conversations from their Coach (professional development mentor) to provide the tools to reach the next level. With competitive raises, rewarding client assignments, and a strong culture, FTI is committed to the retention and success of new hires.
