The Highlights of Ferguson's Approach to Early Career Hiring
Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting
Ferguson's Recruiting Team continues to face the challenges of an ever evolving early career hiring landscape through flexibility, diversity in thinking and creativity. The team partners with select strategic campuses, often participating in in-person events (resume reviews, classroom visits, information sessions) while also maintaining virtual relationships with numerous universities across the country. Beyond events, Ferguson has a strong alumni network that continues to promote referrals, providing a personalized approach to sharing information about the company's culture and opportunities.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
Ferguson's Early Career Team offers a personalized interview experience. It is important that each candidate is given an opportunity to learn more about the role they are considering throughout the process, while also forming a level of trust with their recruiter, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate their best attributes. Ferguson's recruiters work 1-on-1 with every candidate from application to offer which provides a more personal and high-touch candidate experience. Additionally, the team collects data on interview outcomes and revisits the interview process twice per year with a mindset of continuous improvement to best connect candidates to the company and opportunities!
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
Ferguson's corporate culture emphasizes diversity in the workplace. This points to Ferguson's Early Career Team's approach to working to find additional opportunities to connect with a diverse slate of students across the country. To do so, the team has worked to build new student club partnerships, enhance existing relationships at partner HBCUs and HSIs and broaden their virtual reach using a variety of technologies. Additionally, each new hire is provided an opportunity to join any of the company's associate-led Business Resource Groups, participate in mentoring opportunities and contribute to FergusonCares initiatives.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
Ferguson offers internships in a variety of business areas, to include: sales, operations, information technology, and supply chain. Interns are empowered to contribute in the day-to-day success of the company, while also having the opportunity to build relationships with business leaders.
Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent
Ferguson’s early career development programs strive to provide new-hires with the tools and resources to support them in their career journey at Ferguson. Each of Ferguson’s early career development programs offers the opportunity to develop knowledge in a structured training environment, which serves as the foundation for a career across multiple functions within the organization.
