Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting

Embracing the virtual recruiting experience, the Dropbox Emerging Talent team leaned into the ability to hire from anywhere. The team also invested in later-stage events that were centered around the candidates vs. large broad events. Additionally, the team worked closely with programs and partnerships that supported talent from universities and backgrounds they hadn't tapped into before.

Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience

When it comes to Dropbox Emerging Talent hiring, the team prioritizes the candidate first: from personalized recruiting programming, prepping for interview experiences that resemble real-life working scenarios, to intentional virtual programming that support personal connection and professional growth. From interns and apprentices to junior full-time talent, each hire comes away with essential business skills and impactful experiences, as well as an understanding of Dropbox culture.

Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity and inclusion has always been a priority at Dropbox, but with the announcement of staying virtual, the team focused on providing more access points for candidates entering the tech industry. Outside of our larger diversity initiatives, such as conferences (GHC, Tapia, Afrotech, and SHPE), we partnered with university centric programs like ColorStack and Code Path to find talent in new places. Dropbox also continued partnering with Year Up, and hosting their own Ignite apprenticeship program focusing on non-traditional backgrounds. For the first year, Dropbox also invested in a partnership with Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to build lasting relationships with HBCUs and their students.
