About Dropbox

Dropbox is one place to keep life organized and keep work moving. Dropbox was founded in 2007 with a simple idea: Life would be a lot better if everyone could access their most important information anytime, from any device. Over the past 15 years, Dropbox has largely accomplished that mission by building tools to help people work from anywhere — and along the way has recognized that for most users, sharing and collaborating on the Dropbox platform was even more valuable than storing files.

Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring

Dropbox believes that anyone, anywhere deserves the opportunity to have a meaningful career in tech, and the next generation of talent is no different! Dropbox is committed to nurturing and hiring early career talent, and recognizes how important this generation is in shaping the future of Dropbox. The company has made an intentional effort to invest in early career talent across the country through dedicated university partnerships and robust internal programs. Dropbox has a talented team of recruiters and program managers who are committed to making Dropbox a top choice in virtual employment and a place where early career talent can grow and thrive.

Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment

When it comes to sourcing and recruiting the next generation of talent, the Dropbox Emerging Talent team takes an individualized approach, prioritizing each candidate’s success in the interview process and exposure to the Dropbox community. The team has developed strategic relationships with universities, student groups, and diversity-focused organizations aligned to the company’s Virtual First and early career hiring goals. Through those partnerships, the team has planned intentional virtual engagements showcasing what it is like to work at Dropbox. In addition, the team has prepared robust interview prep materials, which walk candidates through the entire interview process, outline what they will be evaluated on at each interview stage, and provide helpful resources and practice tests to make sure they feel confident and prepared.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Diversity and inclusion is a top priority at Dropbox. Within the emerging talent space, the team is focused on building and expanding pathways into the tech industry. This year, the Emerging Talent team continued to partner with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team to sponsor industry-wide diversity conferences like Grace Hopper, Tapia, and AfroTech. In addition, the team partnered with diversity-focused organizations like ColorStack, Edlyft, and Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) to support and mentor underrepresented students in technical fields. In addition to recruiting efforts, all emerging talent hires (interns, apprentices, and entry-level talent) have access to Dropbox’s Employee Resource Groups, the Dropbox Mentoring Program, and specialized learning and development initiatives to support their growth and sense of belonging at Dropbox.

Impactful Internship Program

Ensuring interns work on high-impact projects is the main focus of the Dropbox Internship Program. Over the course of the 12-week internship, interns are placed on a team and paired with a mentor who designs a project that is both meaningful and impactful to the business and the students’ growth and development. In addition, interns are able to take full-advantage of working at a virtual-first company. On top of participating in virtual events and talks (technical and non-technical) hosted by the Internship Program team, many are able to attend team off-sites and work from Dropbox Studios — experiencing the best combination of remote work and in-person collaboration. This summer, the team hosted Dropbox’s first-ever Emerging Talent Summit in San Francisco, where interns were able to meet and work together in-person — a highlight of their internship experience.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

Dropbox is committed to the long-term success and continued development of its full-time early career hires. To support that commitment, the Emerging Talent team created Glide, a one-year community-based social and development program designed to support participants through a smooth early career transition, and set them up for success in their current roles and in future advancement. The program aims to foster a sense of community and belonging for participants through quarterly social engagements and facilitated peer-connection groups. In addition, the program provides participants with a dedicated onboarding curriculum, learning and development workshops, and mentorship opportunities with other Dropboxers across the company. The team also provides tailored training and resources for early career managers to ensure they feel prepared and equipped to best manage this next generation of talent at Dropbox.
