Dominion Energy’s Talent Acquisition team engages with more than 100 schools and partnerships. Examples range from 4-year HBCUs such as North Carolina A&T to HSIs like the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez to community organizations like the Greater Cleveland Partnership. These engagements provided Dominion Energy the opportunity to seek prospective talent and promote careers in the energy industry. Additionally, Dominion Energy partnered with student ambassadors to assist with campus recruiting events, coordinate leaders for campus speaking events, and posting Dominion Energy events on social media.

The Student Employment Team at Dominion Energy knows that every interaction with a candidate, from job postings, career sites, to speaking with hiring leaders can positively or negatively impact the candidate's perception. That's why it is important that they optimize the candidate's experience by having a strong employer brand to help build a connection that introduces the student to Dominion Energy. In addition to branding, The Student Employment Team host several events throughout the year that allows student job seekers to receive personal interaction with the team to discuss the application and hiring process, to ensure the overall experience leaves the student with a positive outcome.

Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion

Over the past three years, Dominion Energy (DE) has designed and implemented a robust roadmap to transition top, diverse talent from Student to Full-time team member. The steps included in the company's process consist of: Recruiting 125 top students to attend a three-day Diversity Student Conference (DSC) and guaranteeing an interview for a paid Summer Internship to those who are selected. Dominion Energy also leverages the DSC students to fill more that 50% of available Summer Internships and provide Summer Interns an engaging, expansive look at DE and the career opportunities they can provide. Dominion Energy is committed to converting a high percentage of the Summer Interns to full-time team members upon graduation so that their early talent population is more than 50% diverse.

Investing in Impactful Internship Programs

At Dominion Energy, interns are offered a vast array of dynamic, engaging virtual and in-person sessions. Some include, high level networking opportunities, meaningful work experiences, mentorships and onsite learning activities such as the off-shore wind and nuclear facilities tour. The program is more than just a few weeks and a project or two. The intern program at Dominion Energy is specifically designed to turn successful students into productive employees. The interns in the program represent over 80 majors, come from over 90 different schools and live across the country and more than 70% of our interns return for multiple summers, and 75% of our senior interns receive offers of employment.

Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent

Dominion Energy's inclusive environment is welcoming to recent graduates as they learn and grow. Dominion Energy's tagline is Actions Speak Louder Than Words and they have the programs to support it. Recent grads can expect a warm welcome at Getting Connected Orientation and are encouraged to participate in Employee Resource Groups, such as the Young Professional ERG, where participants can take tours and learn about major initiatives. Also, there is an annual innovation summit where recent grads can learn and contribute ideas. Executive host lunch & learns and share personal stories that showcase the value of job rotations, encouraged at Dominion Energy.
