Demonstrated Investment in Early Career Hiring

Dev10 believes in the unlimited potential of people. Since launching in 2018, Dev10 has hired more than 1000 recent college graduates and career-changers, and trained them to become software developers and data engineers. Doing so has changed the lives of the Dev10 Associates and Dev10 clients, businesses in local communities challenged by the skilled tech talent shortage. A testament: A recent in-person “happy hour” in Minneapolis drew 100+ Dev10 Associates to network, meet with Dev10 instructors, and share success stories. “It was amazing to see so many Dev10 Associates and alumni in one place," said Tara Wyborny, Dev10 VP of Talent Development. "I loved reconnecting and learning about the amazing careers they have built … A lot has changed for them over the years.”

Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruitment

Dev10’s innovative approach is to look beyond the computer science degree. That is, Dev10 sources and recruits recent college graduates who have degrees in other disciplines, the sciences, the arts, and business — because maybe they discovered their love of coding a little too late in their academic career—and career-changers who have worked as flight attendants, musicians, and teachers. Dev10 has even trained an orchestra conductor! Dev10 creates tech talent by hiring exceptional people with a passion for tech! Dev10 believes these diverse backgrounds make Dev10 Associates special; once placed in a developer or engineering role with a client, they expand an IT team’s view of the problem and the solution.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Prioritized in the recruitment process, diversity starts with a diverse recruiting team. Dev10 participates in career fairs and community events, as well as subscribes to diverse job boards. Other diversity initiatives include: Women in Technology, Grace Hopper, Girls Who Code, Dev10 Women in Tech, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Black Student Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and college and university partnerships such as with HBCUs. Looking beyond candidates who have computer science degrees to those with other backgrounds and have demonstrated technical acumen and coding experience, Dev10 significantly improves access to diverse talent, with 54% of Dev10 Associates identifying as diverse. In addition, Dev10 removes financial barriers that put a tech career out of reach for many, including underrepresented populations, job-changers who typically have family and other financial responsibilities, and recent college graduates who hold significant student loans, by paying for the training and by providing a salary during training as well.

Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent

With two different learning tracks, Dev10 training — Full-Stack Java and Data — is intense but supportive. Grouped into cohorts of 30 or fewer, Dev10 Associates train with the same instructors for the entirety of their curriculum. Through this shared experience, Dev10 Associates become close; they support each other and hold one another accountable. These are relationships they maintain well past the conclusion of training. Dev10’s support doesn’t end with the initial training. Every Dev10 Associate is assigned a Dev10 Mentor who coaches them through their first years in their new career, to include one-on-one guidance, instruction on navigating corporate culture, and career development and goal setting. Dev10 Associates also participate in a Continuing Education Program that provides on-going learning on topics like DevOps Fundamentals, Cloud Architecture, and Cybersecurity for Devs.
