Multi-Faceted and Thoughtful Approach to University Recruitment
The CVS Health University TA Team focused on leveraging technology to find top talent through a school-agnostic approach. The team had applicants from over 1500 different colleges. As part of their early ID strategy the team hosts a Student Mentorship Program for HBCU freshmen and sophomores, and matches them with current colleagues in Employee Resource Groups with similar interests to learn about the company culture and support their development. This program, in conjunction with their partnership with Consortium and other diversity organizations, resulted in the strongest representation of racial and ethnic diversity in the 2023 Internship cohort to date.
Innovative Use of Technology
The CVS Health University TA team has actively sought out ways to leverage technology to improve the candidate experience. The team used a hybrid approach this year with ~75% of candidates being sourced through online platforms. After the candidate applies, the team leverages recorded video interviews to allow candidates to complete when it fits their schedule, and each recruiter includes a video of themselves with the invite to share tips and best practices as well as asking the questions during the interview. The team also leverages technology to automate communications to candidates at different points during the process to keep them informed of their status. Finally the team implemented a keep warm strategy leveraging automated communications between when they accept their offer and their start date.
Impactful Internship Program
At CVS Health, the University TA team welcomes new graduates into their organization and can provide an unlimited number of possible career paths based on their interests and passions. Leaders have collaborated to allow interns to apply for post-graduate opportunities in multiple business areas. Interns aren't pin holed into the business area where they are interning. What is important is helping them to find a role where they will thrive. Interns are invited to participate in our Career Path Exploration session during the in-person Intern Summit to hear from recent graduates who have entered different Leadership Development Programs and full-time roles across 25+ business areas to get a real picture of what their future could be.
