The Highlights of Crown Castle's Approach to Early Career Hiring
Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting
The campus team at Crown Castle expanded virtual offerings to students to ensure equity in hiring across all positions. A variety of platforms were used to source, screen and interview candidates of all backgrounds. Candidates were provided ample opportunities to network with employees to learn more about the company, specific opportunities and to ask questions on how to set themselves up for success. The revamped internship program immersed students in real work the company does, while increasing their skillsets to be applied back to the classroom.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
Crown Castle seeks to continuously improve and innovate their early entry hiring processes to exceed applicant experiences and foster real, meaningful relationships. Through unprecedented times, the team at Crown Castle created new ways to engage with the team such as virtual recruiting, teambuilding opportunities and opportunities to engage with leadership and peers throughout the interview process. After recruiting seasons, Crown Castle conducts qualitative surveys to continue improving in regards to student preferences.
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
Crown Castle understands the importance of equitable representation and continuously strives to foster impactful opportunities. The company has partnered with the UNCF to offer scholarships and further engagement in hiring opportunities. The team has also formed relationships with career offices at multiple HBCUs and HSIs. During early career and internship opportunities at Crown Castle, students are able to network and engage with employees who want to further their development and provide opportunities to learn and grow.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
Crown Castle views the internship program as an opportunity to learn about the business, contribute toward real and meaningful projects, and build skills that can be used both inside and outside the classroom. Interns and their managers complete a Learning Contract, which identifies exactly what the intern would like to learn throughout the summer. Curriculum is supplemented with bi-weekly all-intern calls, networking opportunities, and a summer-long case study competition.
Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent
Crown Castle's full-time, early-entry opportunities provide students the opportunity to grow and develop quickly into a high-performing professional. The company offers a robust two-week onboarding program and continuous opportunities for growth and development. New employees meet with leaders and executives to learn about various parts of the company and how they all tie together toward the common goals. The Business Immersion Program offers the opportunity to be assigned to three unique teams within a two-year period, providing students ample opportunities to identify their strengths and interests.
