The Highlights of Credera's Approach to Early Career Hiring
Building an Innovative and Multi-Faceted Approach to University Recruiting
Credera understands there is not a one-size-fits-all solution to sourcing early career talent, so they incorporate many strategies into their approach. They have a rich history of campus-centric recruiting and have continued to partner with these specific universities for in-person engagement. They engage with students beyond these universities through virtual events and by leveraging early-career tools such as RippleMatch and Handshake. Credera also identifies external partners to support their diversity recruiting initiatives and attends their events. Finally, Credera values maintaining relationships with prospective students and leverages RippleMatch’s Communities feature to stay engaged.
Crafting a Standout Candidate Experience
Credera believes in providing a positive candidate experience for all students – those who are invited to move forward in the recruitment process and those who are not. A student may not have the technical skills or experiences to be an immediately competitive candidate, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t get there. One option would be to reject the less-qualified candidate and move on, but Credera seeks opportunities to help develop students and set them up for future success. Their “Connect with Credera” event series aims to educate students on a career path in consulting, but more importantly, it aims to develop them professionally so they can apply these skills to any career path.
Moving the Needle on Diversity & Inclusion
One thing Credera did differently in 2021 was allocating budget specifically to DE&I sponsorship. In the past, there has been budget for career fairs, events, swag, and travel, but not dedicated budget for diversity recruiting. Credera set the goal of identifying at least one student organization at each of their 15 target universities that represented an underrepresented population. These organizations included NSBE, WiCS, SHPE, and Women in Business to name a few. Sponsorship looked different with each organization, but ranged from providing sponsorship for a student to attend a national technology convention to hosting a roundtable discussion on being a woman in a male-dominated industry.
Investing in Impactful Internship Programs
The final days of Credera’s internship program does not include last-minute work or stressful “here is what I accomplished this summer” presentations, but rather a Leadership Development Conference. Interns from across the nation are invited to Credera’s HQ in Dallas, TX for an event completely dedicated to developing them as people. Not one panel, presentation, or event within this conference is centered around selling the interns on Credera. Rather, the sessions are uniquely designed to provide interns with the tools, resources, and guidance so that they can be successful in whatever career path they choose to pursue. Topics range from Conflict Resolution to Grit to setting SMART goals.
Supporting the Growth and Development of Entry-Level Talent
Credera offers its new hires the opportunity to explore their career options before specializing in a particular role, skill set, or technology. New hires are empowered to choose their own adventure while Credera provides the tools, opportunities, and mentorship necessary to be successful. New hires are introduced to Credera’s best practices through training before jumping into project work. They are paired with a team of mentors and career coaches who give real-time feedback and ensure new hires are supported and cared for as an individual. As new hires gain a better understanding of their professional passions, strengths, and areas they desire to grow, they can choose where to specialize.
