Charlie Miles - Nominee for Exceptional Leader Award

Charlie is the Director of Military and College Employment at PenFed Credit Union. In his role there, he is responsible for growing a pipeline of military and college talent to support PenFed’s staffing needs. In addition, he leads programs that support the professional growth and retention of military employees and interns. Prior to PenFed, Charlie worked in Military Employment and Talent Acquisition for Perspecta, DXC and ManTech. He is also a Veteran having served as a Marine Corps pilot and as an Officer Recruiting Leader. Charlie’s passion is helping veterans and interns become career ready and professionally successful.

Career Highlight

Charlie established the 4 pillars of PenFed’s Internship Program, LEARN, LEAD, INSPIRE, & HIRE. He has led the growth of the internship program through 2 summers of pandemic, creating a hybrid program with options for in-person and virtual participation. In the last year, he increased the number of interns by 74%, expanded recruiting that resulted in a 105% increase in applicants, and increased diversity by 30% through targeted recruiting, DEI partnerships, and diverse interview slates. In addition, Charlie enhanced PenFed’s intern manager training, intern onboarding, and intern training.
