The college recruiting team at Cardinal Health is passionate about providing equity through recruitment and pride themselves on meeting students where they are. The team has adopted a hybrid recruiting strategy that includes opportunities for students to connect with company representatives face-to-face and virtually. To allow for a broader and more representative talent pipeline, the college recruiting team utilizes a multifaceted strategy that incorporates a diverse range of schools, partnerships with national organizations and conferences and sourcing through recruitment platforms such as LinkedIn, Handshake, Jopwell, and others. To help candidates feel fully equipped for interviews, they receive detailed guidance on how to prepare as well as a virtual networking session that offers a deeper dive into the company, internship program, and employee perspectives.

Overarching Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion

Cardinal Health is committed to working together to take inclusive recruiting practices to the next level and to attract and retain diverse talent. With the partnership and support of Cardinal Health’s senior leaders, DEI Steering Council, and Black and African American Racial Equity Cabinet, the recruiting team has implemented solutions and enhancements focused on employer branding to become more inclusive, recruiter and hiring manager training to eliminate bias, and consistent metrics for tracking outcomes. The college recruiting team has also forged relationships with HBCUs, national organizations, and student organizations. Partnerships include the HBCU Career Development Marketplace, HACE, and more. In addition to recruiting initiatives, Cardinal Health is also proud to offer early career talent continued support through mentor programs, employee resource groups, the multi-cultural community, and development programs.

Impactful Internship Program

At Cardinal Health, interns provide meaningful contributions through projects that tackle real business challenges. The company is passionate about providing a robust and practical work experience, while also allowing flexible work arrangements, which include remote and in person work models. In addition to their projects, interns participate in formalized programming to enhance the experience and offer personal and professional development through workshops, networking, mentoring, and more. Some key highlights of the program include the Executive Speaker Series, where interns meet with the CEO and other members of the senior leadership team, and the intern-run committees. Through the committees, interns build their business acumen, network across functions, work on their leadership, and collaboration skills and take ownership of their development and experiences throughout their internship. At the end of the summer, interns deliver an end of summer presentation to practice their presentation skills and showcase their work and accomplishments.

This includes self-led trainings, group discussions, and in-person learning opportunities. Employees also receive coaching and support through a mentor program and are able to participate in employee resource groups, which provide further opportunities to partner with others to exercise leadership skills and focus on personal and professional development and networking.
