Standout Candidate Experience
Avangrid is continuously putting themselves in the student job seekers shoes by the early careers team at Avangrid understanding the excitement and nerves that go into a hiring process. So Avangrid sets applicants up with success by sending previous early career candidates to the career fairs to speak with applicants on their personal journeys and what the experience could look like with Avangrid. Following their application, they meet with the early careers team to prepare for the hiring process and hear from a student that is currently in the early careers program. Lastly, to ensure that Avangrid is continuously progressing we offer a post-program survey to collect data on the candidate positive experience and where there is room for improvement.
Impactful Internship Program
Avangrid’s Internship Experience empowers interns to support business-critical projects such as cloud migrations, green hydrogen, and union contracts, thereby making an indelible impact during their ten-week tenure. Moreover, the experience prepares interns for successful careers by teaching them practical skills in a structured learning journey, challenging them with real-world projects, and connecting them with senior leaders. Through interactive workshops, interns learn how to find their purpose in the workplace, build their personal brands, communicate their accomplishments with confidence, and remove barriers to build more equitable workplaces. Top-performing interns organize networking events that strengthen the group’s camaraderie through teambuilding activities and volunteering. Their final pitches to the business, through which they share their achievements and aspirations, are celebrated company wide.
Growth and Development of the Next Generation of Talent
Avangrid prioritizes hiring interns into the Global Graduate Rotational Development Program, where they grow their careers by continuing the structured learning journey, building connections with their coworkers, and achieving business-critical goals. During the two-year program, employees rotate through three to four challenging assignments, including one abroad in Spain or the UK. Avangrid coordinates the entire visa and relocation process to ensure a smooth transition. To supplement their on-the-job experiences, employees participate in workshops on foundational skills, such as giving and receiving feedback and embracing change. They receive support from their peer group, a mentor, and senior leaders who share career experiences and advice during informal meetings. Upon completion of the program, employees transition into their permanent roles at Avangrid as future leaders or technical specialists.
