Alyona Dodson is Assistant Vice President, Recruiting and College Relations Consultant at Zions Bancorporation. She manages university recruiting activities and strategies to attract early career talent for Amegy Bank’s (Texas affiliate of Zions) Summer Internship Program and Banker Development Program, one of the best training and development programs in the industry. Alyona holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas and has over 11 years of diverse professional experience, 5 of which have been spent in the early talent acquisition space. Alyona is passionate about making an impact through helping students develop and find excellent career opportunities and bringing top talent to help her organization grow and succeed.

Career Highlight

One of the most challenging and trying times in Alyona’s college recruiting career so far has been adapting to the changes brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. When campus recruiting entered uncharted territory with all virtual events in Fall 2020, Alyona and her team had to pivot to and learn about new kinds of engagement opportunities with students and universities. Despite the impact caused by this huge disruption, they still managed to connect with and recruit the desired number of skilled candidates for their programs. Unlike many other companies who ended up canceling or significantly shortening their internship programs over the last two years due to the pandemic, Amegy Bank offered the full Summer Internship Program, adapting it to a fully virtual experience in Summer 2020 and a hybrid experience in Summer 2021. The interns’ feedback reflected their gratitude for Amegy’s efforts to invest in their development and provide them with an exceptional internship opportunity during a major global crisis. Alyona is proud of this accomplishment and is grateful for the support her organization showed to prioritize students’ development.
