Campus Forward Honoree - Twilio

With the onset of COVID-19, Twilio was quick to pivot to a virtual internship and always kept their interns top of mind when adjusting the program. They successfully created a playbook for intern managers and mentors, ensuring all team members were properly equipped to create a best-in-class internship experience.

Read on for some of the highlights of Twilio's innovative approach to college recruiting and why they were named a 2021 Campus Forward Honoree in RippleMatch's Campus Forward Awards.

Summer Internship Program

Twilio’s early career team worked to adapt their internship program to a virtual setting, always keeping in mind the intern experience and the natural nerves interns would have with the switch to a virtual program. Twilio focused on manager and mentor enablement preparations, and creating pre-program training sessions that provided a Playbook that outlined expectations, ensuring the team was well equipped to create a valuable and fulfilling internship experience.

Virtual Recruitment

With the shift to virtual recruitment, Twilio understood that virtual interviews and fully virtual recruitment would likely be a shift for many candidates. To better prepare candidates for what to expect, the recruitment team published articles and an on-demand web series, “Unplugged” to provide candidates with advice on best practices for making a great first impression, building relationships, and confidently advocating for themselves.

Candidate Experience

Twilio knows the importance of creating a supportive candidate experience from application to interview to offer, so the company invested in creating resources to ensure candidates are prepared with advice on differing interview types ranging from virtual and technical interviews to behavioral. Once an offer is made, managers are trained on how to create the best possible experience for early career hires.

Diversity and Inclusion

By 2023, Twilio aims to have women make up 50% of their global employee population and have 30% underrepresented populations make up their US workforce. Twilio’s early talent team recognize the vital role they play in making this a reality and this year were proud to welcome their most diverse intern class ever with interns self-identifying as 60% female and 40% from underrepresented populations. To ensure they are cultivating a welcoming culture for all, Twilio offers a "Be Inclusive" training to its entire employee base including interns.

Congratulations to Twilio for their accomplishments this past year. RippleMatch is proud to recognize Twilio in our 2021 Campus Forward Awards for their commitment toward the next generation of talent.
