Virtual Recruitment & Candidate Experience

PSEG was ahead of the curve this year as initial interviews have always been hosted virtually out of consideration for students’ schedules. By the time lockdown orders were in place, the company had already hired 85% of its interns for the summer. To avoid rescinding offers, the company worked with managers and interns to push back start-days and allow time for adequate preparation. Teams worked with internal and external partners to become better equipped with ramping and training remote interns. Once training was complete, PSEG kicked off their summer with a full intern class.

Summer Internship Program

The main goal of PSEG’s early career team this summer was to provide interns with an engaging experience and immerse them in PSEG’s company culture. To accomplish this, the team worked with various departments throughout the company like HR and IT to ensure interns were fully prepared for a virtual internship. They also created content around PSEG’s culture and hosted weekly lunches to  mingle and check in, so the interns could connect with recruiters and ask questions. Interns were even invited to an annual meeting with PSEG’s CEO via Zoom, which provided insight into different parts of the company.

Diversity and Inclusion

PSEG is passionate about D&I and partners with universities to reach a diverse slate of qualified candidates. The early career team not only works directly with university career services centers, but also partners with schools that have specific programs for students with disabilities, like RIT’s office for neuro-diverse students. PSEG also partners with HBCUs and HSIs, as well as countless affinity groups at the university level, regional, and national level.
